Our Graduated Recovery Program
Recovery is a step-by-step process, and our programs are designed to support patients through every stage of healing. From medically supervised detox to structured outpatient care, each level of treatment ensures a smooth transition toward lasting sobriety.
Inpatient Detox
Highest Level of Care – Medically Supervised Detoxification
Inpatient detox is the first and most critical step in recovery for individuals dependent on substances that cause severe withdrawal symptoms. This 24/7 medically monitored program ensures patient safety, comfort, and stabilization while the body clears harmful substances.
What to Expect
- Medical supervision to manage withdrawal symptoms.
- Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioids, alcohol, and benzodiazepines.
- Preparation for transition into residential or PHP treatment.
Substances Treated
Alcohol, Opioids, Benzodiazepines, Kratom, and Fentanyl.
Residential Treatment
Structured, 24/7 Care in a Supportive Environment
Once detox is complete, residential treatment provides intensive, structured care in a controlled, substance-free environment. Patients engage in therapy, skill-building, and medical care while living on-site, helping them build a strong foundation for long-term sobriety.
What to Expect
- Daily individual and group therapy focusing on addiction, trauma, and behavioral health.
- Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
- Relapse prevention and coping strategies to prepare for independent living.
Substances Treated
Alcohol, Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium), Opioids (Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Heroin, Fentanyl, Kratom), Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Adderall.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Flexible, Intensive Treatment with Increased Independence
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is the final step in structured care, offering intensive therapy and medical support while allowing individuals to live at home or in a sober living environment. PHP provides the most freedom while still maintaining a strong level of care.
What to Expect
- 5-6 days per week of structured therapy and treatment.
- Continued medical oversight for those on MAT or requiring psychiatric support.
- Individualized relapse prevention planning and reintegration strategies.
Substances Treated
Alcohol, Benzodiazepines, Opioids, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, and Adderall.
Outpatient Care
Ongoing Support for Lasting Recovery
Outpatient care is the final step in the recovery process, ensuring patients continue to receive guidance and support as they transition back into daily life. This phase focuses on reinforcing coping skills, maintaining sobriety, and providing ongoing therapeutic and medical care as needed.
What to Expect
- Flexible therapy sessions that fit into work and daily life.
- Continued access to medical support, including MAT when necessary.
- Long-term relapse prevention planning and aftercare resources.
The Final Step in Long-Term Recovery
Patients graduate from structured care and continue with outpatient counseling and peer support, ensuring they have the tools and community needed for lifelong sobriety.
Substances We Treat & The Detoxification Process
At Central Florida Counseling & Recovery Centers, we provide comprehensive treatment for a wide range of substances, addressing both commonly used and emerging substances. Our approach ensures safe detoxification, structured treatment, and long-term recovery through a combination of Inpatient Detox Programs and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP).
Alcohol (Depressants & Sedatives)
Overview
Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant, and withdrawal can be life-threatening if not medically supervised. Heavy and prolonged use can lead to dangerous symptoms such as seizures, hallucinations, and delirium tremens (DTs).
Detox Process
- Inpatient Detox is recommended due to the risk of severe withdrawal symptoms. Patients are closely monitored, and medications such as benzodiazepines may be used.
- After stabilization, patients transition to PHP or outpatient counseling for continued support.
Recovery Timeframe
Detox lasts 5–7 days, but post-acute symptoms like anxiety and sleep disturbances can persist for weeks. Full recovery typically takes several months with structured support.
Benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, Ativan, etc.)
Overview
Benzodiazepines are prescription sedatives used to treat anxiety and insomnia but are highly addictive. Withdrawal can be dangerous and may include seizures, extreme anxiety, and life-threatening complications.
Detox Process
- Gradual tapering under medical supervision in an Inpatient Detox Program is required to prevent severe withdrawal.
- Once stabilized, patients transition into PHP or outpatient counseling with therapy for anxiety management.
Recovery Timeframe
Detox can take 10–14 days, with psychological recovery (anxiety and mood stabilization) requiring several months of ongoing therapy.
Stimulants (Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Adderall, etc.)
Overview
Stimulants affect dopamine levels in the brain, leading to intense cravings and withdrawal symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and fatigue.
Detox Process
- Unlike alcohol or benzodiazepines, stimulant withdrawal is not typically life-threatening but can cause severe depression and cravings.
- Patients may receive Inpatient Detox or PHP support, followed by outpatient behavioral therapy.
Recovery Timeframe
Acute withdrawal lasts 7–10 days, but mood instability can persist for weeks or months. Long-term recovery involves cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and relapse prevention strategies.
Opioids (Heroin, Fentanyl, Prescription Painkillers)
Overview
Opioids are highly addictive and cause severe withdrawal symptoms, including muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and intense cravings.
Detox Process
- Inpatient Detox is strongly recommended with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options such as Suboxone or Methadone.
- After detox, patients transition to PHP or outpatient counseling, with continued MAT support as needed.
Recovery Timeframe
Detox lasts 5–10 days, but cravings and emotional symptoms can persist for weeks to months. Full recovery requires therapy, lifestyle changes, and long-term support.
How Medications Support Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) plays a crucial role in substance use recovery by reducing withdrawal symptoms, managing cravings, and addressing underlying mental health conditions. At Central Florida Counseling & Recovery Centers, we integrate evidence-based medication support to enhance treatment outcomes and improve long-term sobriety.
Suboxone (Buprenorphine/Naloxone)
How It Works
Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine, a partial opioid agonist, and naloxone, an opioid antagonist. It helps individuals recovering from opioid addiction by reducing cravings and withdrawal symptoms without producing the same high as full opioids.
Benefits in Treatment
- Prevents severe withdrawal symptoms from opioids.
- Reduces cravings, lowering the risk of relapse.
- Blocks the effects of other opioids, discouraging misuse.
Who Can Benefit?
Individuals struggling with opioid addiction, including heroin, fentanyl, or prescription painkiller dependence.
Vivitrol (Naltrexone Injection)
How It Works
Vivitrol is an extended-release, once-monthly injection of naltrexone, an opioid antagonist that blocks opioid and alcohol effects in the brain. Unlike Suboxone, it contains no opioids and is non-addictive.
Benefits in Treatment
- Prevents opioid and alcohol relapse by blocking the euphoric effects.
- Non-addictive with no withdrawal symptoms when stopped.
- Improves compliance with recovery by requiring only one injection per month.
Who Can Benefit?
Patients recovering from **opioid or alcohol use disorder** who have already detoxed and want a medication to help prevent relapse.
Ketamine (For Treatment-Resistant Depression & PTSD)
How It Works
Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that, at low doses, has been found to rapidly alleviate symptoms of severe depression, PTSD, and suicidal thoughts. It acts on the NMDA receptors in the brain, leading to fast-acting improvements in mood.
Benefits in Treatment
- Rapid relief from severe depression and suicidal thoughts.
- Helps individuals struggling with PTSD and anxiety-related disorders.
- Can enhance motivation and engagement in recovery programs.
Who Can Benefit?
Patients experiencing **severe depression, PTSD, or mental health challenges** that have not responded to traditional treatments.
Gabapentin (Neurontin)
How It Works
Gabapentin is a medication originally used to treat seizures and nerve pain, but it has also been found to be effective in managing alcohol withdrawal, opioid withdrawal symptoms, and anxiety in recovery.
Benefits in Treatment
- Reduces withdrawal symptoms, especially for alcohol and opioid detox.
- Helps manage anxiety and mood instability without the risk of addiction.
- May reduce cravings for alcohol and some substances.
Who Can Benefit?
Individuals recovering from **alcohol withdrawal, opioid detox, or anxiety disorders** who need additional medication support without addictive properties.
