Opioid/Heroin/Fentanyl
Opioids consist of pain pills such as Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Morphine & Dilaudid as well as Heroin and Fentanyl. Opioids mimic the structure of endorphins activating the bodies receptors leading to tolerance and physiological dependence. Withdrawal symptoms depend on the length of time used as well as how much was used which can last between 3 to 10 days.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is up to 50 times stronger than Heroin and 100 times stronger than Morphine. It is a major contributor to fatal and nonfatal overdoses in the United States. Fentanyl related overdoses are linked to illegally made Fentanyl, which is distributed through illegal drug markets for its Heroin-like effect. It is often added to other drugs because of its extreme potency, which makes drugs cheaper, more addictive and dangerous.
Opioid dependence is initially treated by entering our inpatient detoxification program. The detox process can last from 5 to 10 days depending on each individual's progress. During the detoxification, you will be medically monitored and given medication to help ease the symptoms. Once detoxification is complete, a step-down will begin into the residential treatment program which can last up to 28 days.
